The Austrian desserts still reflect the vastness of the former Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The favorite dessert – cream cheese dumplings – is usually served either stuffed with plums and sprinkled with poppy seeds or stuffed with cream cheese and garnished with apricots. Austrian apricots, especially from the sunny area of Wachau, are also a renowned specialty. Reportedly, no other apricots are as good as the variety known as ‘Marillen vom Wachau’. Judge for yourself!
